This is a book that will definitely be re-visited throughout life, a courageous story that will change the world. We will conclude the final chapters next week. For World menopause day we wanted to make menopause matter and research how the generations of women before us were treated through their menopause. Jinty discovered a brilliant woman called Elizabeth Packard, the subject of Kate Moore’s book ‘The Woman who could not be silenced’ who was born in the 19thC and would not be silenced by her husband for having a voice and an opinion of her own. Did you know there are some animals that go through the menopause and live in a matriarchal society? Also, we learn that women in the 19thC were more likely to be put in an asylum during menopause and have to endure a hideous concoction of medicines including lead injections into their vulvas and cyanide and opium drinks? There are a lot of dark and truly mind blowing facts that we discuss this week and we thank the women who would not be silenced.A fascinating dive in to Women’s History and why now is the time to #makemenopausematter. Please sign the petition which is calling for 1. All GP’s to receive mandatory menopause training.2. Better Support for women in the workplace3.
