His visions focused more on the people than rebuilding the temple. God’s message was to return to Him so He would return to them. Zechariah used apocalyptic symbolism and imagery, referencing Jesus as the Branch and the one ignored by his people. He envisioned a glorious, expanded Jerusalem if the people repented.
