Episode Summary

Potter Revisited Episode #48 The Right Thing The Wrong Way AKA Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 11 "The Firebolt" Harry is dealing with the revelation from last chapter, learning that Sirius Black was friends with his parents, is his godfather, and betrayed his parents to Voldemort  Harry is having strong feelings of anger and vengeance - the first time we really see him like this Harry imagines Peter Pettigrew to be like Neville - interesting comparison since many see Neville as what Peter could have been  Shay compared the rest of the trio to the Marauders  Ron and Hermione are doing their best to help Harry but they are just kids - Harry should really have a trusted adult to confide in  Ron vocalizing Harry's thoughts of killing Sirius Black is poignant Ron shares all that was found of Pettigrew was a finger - foreshadowing for later Ron and Hermione are working together to distract Harry and suggest visiting Hagrid - who Harry wants to confront for not telling him the truth about Sirius Black  Buckbeak is going to be brought up to the Dept of Dangerous Creatures and may be executed - despite Hagrid being the adult, the trio are the ones taking care of him Hagrid opening up about his time in Azkaban makes it feel more real - and awful  Is it just for criminals to be imprisoned and also made depressed?  The Trio spend the Christmas break researching stuff to help Hagrid's case which is so great of them, and also keeps Harry distracted   Christmas morning, Harry gets another surprise gift - the Firebolt Ron theorizes first that Dumbledore could have sent it to him, then Lupin - foreshadowing there is more to the Lupin/Harry relationship Hermione enters the Dorm with Crookshanks - why did she do that when she had ensured Ron that Crookshanks would be kept in her dorm?  Crookshanks chases Scabbers and Harry's Sneak-o-Scope goes off - further foreshadowing? Scabbers is not looking well according to Harry - Peter definitly knows that Sirius is close on his tail  We discuss what living in a animagas form for years would do to you as a person  Hermione is the only one questioning why Harry was sent this expensive brookstick, where Ron and Harry don't seem too concerned Snape gets a Vulture topped hat in his cracker - did Dumbledore do that on purpose? Trelawney refuses to join the table originally since she would make 13, and the first to rise would be the first to die Tori points out that Harry and Ron stand up first, and both had near death or actual death experiences  Shay points out Scabbers was in Ron's pocket the whole time, to technically Dumbledore stands up first, and does die in HBP We discuss the falling out with Hermione after she tells Professor McGonagall about the mystery broomstick and confiscates it  Shay believes it was a bad move and Hermione should have discussed it with Harry and Ron, while Tori believes Hermione is taking the Sirius Black stuff more seriously than Harry and Ron and acted in their best interests  Did Ron side with Harry because of the broomstick issue or because of his ongoing pet issue with Hermione?  Was Harry more angry with Hermione because he lost the broomstick, or because he saw it as a betrayal - the thoughts of Sirius Black and his day still weighing on him?  We discuss the friendship issues that happen in this book, and how it shows the trio growing up  We also discuss Harry's friendship with Hermione and how it differs between the one he has with Ron  Snape Sucks total for Chapter 11: 0 Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Fill our our Listener Survey here:
