Episode Summary
Earlier this year we met up with Smita Sinha for a coffee, and in the middle of a busy cafe talked about Intimate Health, Vulvas, Vaginas and menopause, we didn’t even whisper and it was so refreshing.Smita is the founder of Serenity Women’s Clinic and is a Consultant Gynaecologist with over 15 years’ experience in Women’s Health and specialises in Menopause and Vulval Health. She is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, British Menopause Society and British Society for the study of Vulval disease.Smita has a special interest in Medical education and wellbeing and has held several leadership roles in Doctors postgraduate education and pastoral care. She enjoys raising awareness on Women’s Health topics and her passion is to support Women to Pro-age with evidence based management. She has created Serenity Women’s Clinic to provide a one stop approach for Women, with consultations and treatments for Menopause, Vulval Health as well Facial Aesthetics and Intimate rejuvenation. We ask Smita about Pro-ageing and discuss this privilege (beats the alternative!). We go back to basics as Smita tells us why we might suffer from Genitourinary Syndrome of menopause and other vulva and vagina conditions. We look at common symptoms and treatments, stigma and what exactly do Doctors think when we go for an intimate examination. We also discuss intimate rejuvenation, what is it and who might need it. Book Collective: We conclude the wonderful Twelve Moons. A Year Under A Shared Sky by Caro Giles. This week we read chapter 12, Cold Moon, quite fittingly it’s the December moon. It’s a time of reflection for Caro and the girls as well as hope for the future. We announce the new book for the collective for January, we think you’ll love it! We talk feminism as Jinty tells us about bike face, did you know it was a thing? There’s also a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah quiz and Lou finds out the best and cheapest times to food shop leading up to Christmas. There’s an inspirational quote from Lou, it’s another episode brimming with chat, your comments, and all the usual sweary shenanigans!
