Gregory Wedel Morales was a 23 Oklahoma native. He was born 01/19/1996. He joined the Army in June 2015 as a motor transport operator. Gregory had been assigned to the 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division in fort hood since November 2016. He went missing Aug. 19, 2019. Gregory’ remains were discovered in a field only 4 miles from Fort Hood on Friday June 19th 2020 in a shallow grave. After Criminal Investigation Command Special Agents received information as to the location of the body. His mother Kim Wedel shares memories of Gregory and talks about her experience with the Army CID and the Killeen Police Department. The Army didn’t try to locate Morales because they had declared him a deserter a month after he vanished.
