In Cheyenne, Wyoming, frontier gentleman J.B. Kendall observes a cattle drive arriving in town with twelve trail herders who have brought 2,000 animals over 1,000 miles. When the rowdy Texians hit town for celebration, Kendall becomes drawn into the story of Kid Yancy, a young drover whose stern handler Nick Kermitty has promised the boy's father to keep him away from whiskey and women.
