Episode 11 - A Songwriter’s path to Filmmaking, with Melissa Sheridan In this episode of the Faith and Family Filmmakers podcast , Hosts Geoffrey Whitt and Jaclyn Whitt have a discussion with Melissa Sheridan. They discuss her experience with songwriting and screenwriting, as well as collaborating in the film industry. Starting from a young age, Melissa always had a passion for music and storytelling, which eventually led her into a career writing songs for independent movies. She speaks about her involvement with the film 'God's Country Song,' in particular, which was a fun project given that she began writing the music before the script was finished. Melissa also shares her approach to collaboration, noting that she appreciates both working alone and with others. Melissa has worked in ministry for 13+ years. She is currently the communications director for Nashville Youth for Christ. Melissa’s writing career originated with a love for songwriting. She's had songs featured in multiple television shows like “19 kids and Counting,” Pureflix’s “Saved By Grace,” and feature films: Skipstone Pictures, “F.R.E.D.I.,” “Max Winslow and the House of Secrets,” and most recently wrote the soundtrack for “God’s Country Song,” a Pureflix original. Over the past 4 years, her love for screenwriting and music have collided. She has written multiple screenplays with her co-writer Amy Traurig. These scripts have gone on to win a handful of film festivals.
