Episode Summary

In this episode of Lifespring! One Year Bible Rewind, Steve Webb reads Matthew 1–2. First, we hear the genealogy that roots Jesus in Abraham and David. Then we watch Joseph obey God and protect Mary and the child. Finally, wise men come from the east to worship the newborn King. Through each scene, God keeps His promises and reveals His faithfulness once again. Today’s Reading Matthew 1–2 (Bible reading) Read today’s passage on BibleGateway.com. Commentary Matthew opens with a list of names, yet every name tells a story. The genealogy shows that Jesus is the long-promised Son of David and the Son of Abraham. In addition, God chooses to work through imperfect people, which gives us hope. Joseph models quiet obedience: he trusts God, marries Mary, and names the child Jesus. As a result, his faith becomes part of God’s redemption plan. Later, the Magi arrive. They follow the star, outwit Herod, and offer gifts that point to Jesus’ identity. Therefore, the nations begin to worship the King—just as the prophets said.
