This week I was joined by Dean “Smudger” Smith for a wide-ranging conversation about language, etymology and the power words have in shaping thought, stories and the reality we move through. We explored why certain words, phrases and narratives seem to carry far more weight than they first appear to, how law and language overlap, and why learning to discern the roots and uses of words can become a real tool for seeing through confusion. We also touched on scripture, Genesis, the Tower of Babel, phonetics, numbers, frequency and the way language can be used both to reveal and to conceal.Dean also shared a bit about his own path into this work, from his wider awakening into studying words more deeply, and we spoke about the new weekly Facebook show we’re launching together, The Holy Truth, where we’ll take listener-submitted words, phrases and media talking points and break them down live.
