Remembering Brent Bachman and his legacy

Episode Summary

Today we opened on a somber note as our community remembered Brent Bauchman, a longtime friend of the show, Marine veteran, patriot, and familiar voice to so many of us. We shared stories from decades of friendship, reflected on Brent’s generosity and larger-than-life presence, and talked about the circumstances surrounding his passing in Las Vegas after a difficult stretch with health issues, extreme heat, and job stress. More than anything, this episode became a tribute to the kind of man Brent was and the mark he left on everyone who knew him. From there, we moved into a wide-ranging Saturday discussion on current events and bigger historical patterns: the situation involving Spanish territory in North Africa, questions about migration and geopolitics, and a long conversation about the fragility of the financial system. We revisited Bretton Woods, Nixon closing the gold window, Volcker-era interest rates, the Japanese carry trade, derivatives, supply chain vulnerability, and what a credit shock could mean in everyday life. We also touched on cultural change, military recruitment, media influence, and the search for faith and meaning in unsettled times before closing with a moment of silence in Brent’s honor.Podhome: https://www.podhome.fm/docs/podhome-aiEuro Folk Radio: https://eurofolkradio.com/Global Voice Radio: https://www.globalvoiceradio.net/Rumble: https://corp.rumble.com/Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): https://www.va.gov/John B.
