Refined 90’s Cinema
Brendan Clouthier and Alex Gervais

Nostalgia unscripted. Refined 90’s Cinema is a podcast with two best friends reviewing movies from the 1990s. Brendan and Alex discuss movies, reviews and life. In trilogy format, our co-hosts dive deep into some of our favourite 90’s movies and some we’ve never seen. Warning: This podcast is explicit.

We have a very special guest in the studio. This episode, our graphic designer and CAD aficionado friend Dale joins us for many hours of rambunctious ramblings. We talk about anime, cool but sad webcomics, domain names (Hover shout-out) and many other things on this first of a multi-part series.  It's a slice of life on this part 1 (of 2 or 3) sub-podcast. Our regularly scheduled programming will be back soon. Recorded in-front of a live studio audience. Refined 90’s Cinema is a podcast with two best friends reviewing movies from the 1990s. Alex teaches us all about art as we watch a 90's children's classic: Art Attack! On this Quick Hits 4, Art Attack host Neil Buchanan, who people on the Internet have mistaken for Banksy, still has a career as a beloved Scottish artist after 17 years of a wonderful television series. We draw and then Brendan lost our drawings. That jerk! Refined 90’s Cinema is a podcast with two best friends reviewing movies from the 1990s. Find us at https://refined90scinema.com. Questions? Quick Hits 1 | 90’s Commercial Break Recorded: September 20, 2021  Our very first Quick Hits! We watched some 90's commercials. They didn't age well at all. We then watched some 2021 commercials. Now I want Barbie dolls, cat food , soap operas and fast food for some reason. Does gum stay in you for 7 years? Snopes.com. I still want to buy into the Columbia House scam. Did we watch Flubber? We did. Alex begins our show discussing his Pokemon obsession. It’s basically PokeHoarders at his house. Someone call TLC. Alex laments the Nova Scotia accent. Send the hate mail his way. Then on Dirty Laundry, we discuss anal issues and “not being done”. Make the flubber. Then we see Shooter McGavin try and marry his wife. Wil Weaton plays the bad guy’s son and Clancy Brown from Earth II is in the movie too! The Flubb is on the loose. Robby Williams puts flubber everywhere and helps a high-school bball team win the game to win back his ex-fiancee. We eventually figured it out. Hack and Slash, or the bad guys, suck hard. Towards the end, Scott Trimble, lets us know what’s up on the set of Flubber. The reviews were terrible at the time of its release. Stay tuned for our first livestream for Episode 36 coming this week on our YouYube Channel: Refined 90’s Cinema. In a world, where movies are watched and reviewed. Two friends stand to lose everything to bring you only the best in podcasting. On this episode of Refined 90’s Cinema. Alex and Brendan begin their most trying challenge yet. Our Robin Williams trilogy begins with Bicentennial Man from 1999. Auto-tuning, robot appendages, the future and more. Brendan admits that he has been secretly auto-tuning Alex this whole time. CGI is good. Practical effects are better. We see the robot being delivered because this is Bicentennial Man. The family takes delivery of Andrew and then they force him to do menial tasks around their house like Rosie from The Jetson’s. Then he gets to play chess and the kids make him jump out the window. They live in the house from Signs. Andrew the robot gets smart. He reads lots of books and such. As you could have guessed, Andrew becomes a member of the family. 12 years later… Where is everyone now? Lloyd is a dick. Andrew is free and he builds himself a beach house. Then his original owner is almost-dead and the other daughter is still a dick. Milton from Office Space gets replaced by Jake’s Dad from Brooklyn 99 and it puts on some clothes as he travels around and tries to find other robots like itself. He gets organs and then begins stalking the grand-daughter of his former owners. Of course, we have flying cars. It’s the future. Editor's Note: Due to some technical difficulties, mainly Brendan recording next to a running washing machine and dryer for over an hour, this episode might sound a little different. Hopefully, the hilarity shines through. So, grab some H2O and press play on this episode of Refined 90’s Cinema. 00:00 Intro: Song: Lobby Time from Incomptech.com. We start off talking Pokemon card collecting and Settlers of Catan for 2 players. We love board and card games here. Couples who Cattan together, stay together. 07:22 Vice’s series: Dark Side of the 90s. Brendan says it’s “podcast adjacent.” He’s just jealous that he didn’t come up with it first. That’s who! 16:12 We start the Movie. It’s Waterboy from 1998. We complain about Touchstone Smurf Weiner Productions and green screen technology. Recapping the movie. Brendan likes the colours, Alex likes the voice Adam Sandler does. 24:38 Is Adam Sandler father/parent-less? Seems to be a theme worth exploring. A quick web search would reveal that _no. _It appears he was raised by two loving and alive parents. The movie continues with Bobby Boucher giving everyone water and playing great football. 32:44 Do American’s party with their college professors? Maybe Epstein. We take a short pause to discuss sexual boundaries and the importance of patience with a partner and communication. Talk to each other. Be respectful. Don’t do anything you’re uncomfortable with. 39:28

Joey from Friends did a movie between the first and second seasons and it bombed. 00:00 Intro: Song: Lobby Time from Incomptech.com. 00:08 Brendan gets a new cellular telephone and is way too excited about something that everyone else already has in their pockets. #adulting. Please congratulate him at refined90scinema@gmail.com. We discuss our upcoming reunion and how we will fall back in-love once we can record in the same room. 04:23 Introducing (Alex's new segment) Dirty Laundry. Do you put on a new pair of socks everyday? If not, you should, because your feet will stink badly. Change your underwear and your socks daily. Multiple times a day if you sweat. Send us your sock recommendations. 07:35 We fail to properly parody Brokeback Mountain and then we learn some fascinating facts about the famous Kentucky River and its importance as a source of drinking water for its surrounding areas. 09:26 Back to our Drinks of the Week. Alex takes a trip to the liquor store and insults a customer service representative whilst realizing that he is creepy and old since he turned 30 years old. People be thinkin' you creepin'. 11:12

Our motto for this romantic ghost tale is WITTB. It involves a former game show and prime-time host whose name we just enjoy saying. This movie really isn't our cup of tea. We start our ghost trilogy with this children's classic: Casper. A friendly ghost if I've ever met one. The boys meander from discussing putting your genitals in fan blades, then ghost haunting, then how grape juice is a conspiracy to turn us into winos, then how cleaning your keyboard is very important. Get those dead skin cells out of there! Alex's vaccine prospects look grim and so, we ask the question this week: How do you wipe, sitting or standing? It is an important question that every adult must ask themselves at some point in their bleak existence. Do you use wet wipes or towels? Do you have a bidet? Are you a public squatter or a poop nudist? Movie discussion starts at 13:40 Recorded: April 8, 2021 Refined 90’s Cinema is a podcast with two best friends reviewing movies from the 1990s. Come along with us and watch Tim Allen's haircut. We have a comedic-sci-fi bonanza on this episode 90's TV Dad hits us right in the cocaine feels. Yep, that happened. Read about Timothy Dick's drug charges here, here and here. Regardless, people can change, and he does give us nostalgic warmth and fuzzies. He was Disney's The Santa Claus's Santa after all. Another VHSRip and CANCON production on this episode of Refined 90's Cinema. Our second installment in the 2021 Extraterrestilogy. We begin with Alex opening a special bottle of wine worth 25 G's (actually $30).  This dollar store bin movie actually has a half-way decent beginning. But, then, the plot falls apart and they turn into aliens? In the credit sequence, there is a special Kroeger surprise. 4:28 movie discussion starts Recorded: March 18, 2021 Refined 90’s Cinema is a podcast with two best friends reviewing movies from the 1990s. We get the Fresh Prince and order some delicious Chinese food on this episode of Refined 90's Cinema. What's your favourite dish? Alex has an affinity for spicy Kung-Pow Chicken. Do you ever order from a new restaurant just to test the waters? The Chinese food in MiB makes us hungry and so we take a very long break in order to eat. Brendan can't get delivery and so he makes sad rice. But, what about the movie?!? We also watch and review the first MiB movie. We learn of an Internet connected family while searching for Men in Black reviews. We are so engrossed with their online lives that we perform our own take on their classic Men in Black fanfiction The Chocolate in the Cereal: A Men in Black Fan Fiction: https://www.youtube.com/c/GuilloryFamily/videos. The final psychological thriller movie in our trilogy. Our Valentine's Day special. We're in love with one another and with geometric solids on this episode of Refined 90's Cinema.  It's not at all funny. It's not an adventure story. It's 6, or so people, in a cube. One of them designed the cube. Another is a jerk, pedo-cop trying to possibly groom a high-schooler. Definite Epstein vibes from this one. Hopefully Gizz-Stain can tell us more about what they were doing and how disgusting it all was. They are the most evil, most horrible people on the planet right now, other than  Comment below and complain, or tell us how much you love this low-budget horror CANCON cult classic. It was also remade in Japan and is slated to be release in October of this year. Maybe we can get a pre-release (keep dreaming). Movie discussion starts at 4:15. This psychological thriller has us tongue-tied and our brains turned into mush. We really struggled with this one. I mean, what is the point? Why didn't they consider another ending? Why is this movies plot dependant on it's suspenseful music? What? I don't... what? Okay. We really didn’t know what the deal was for most of this and then even in the end it was incredibly unsettling. A lot of plot holes and some dick jokes later, we somehow survived the game, both the movie and the actual game, and made it to the end. This one really made us turn back and go…. Hmm, so that was a thing. Recorded: Sunday, January 31, 2021 Refined 90’s Cinema is a podcast with two best friends reviewing movies from the 1990s. Find us at https://refined90scinema.com.
