Episode Summary

In this 89th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we discuss the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.In this episode, we begin by discussing a recent episode of the Making Sense podcast, in which Sam Harris and guest Eric Topol strawman both our position, and that of many people who are trying to engage honestly and carefully with scientific evidence. We discuss the evidence that having had Covid confers immunity against SARS-CoV2; the concerns of some doctors about granting EUAs for the covid vaccines to be used in children; and the selective pressure on pathogens that imperfect vaccination creates. We then discuss sleep: beginning with an excerpt from chapter 6 of A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century—Sleep—we discuss dreams and hallucinations, the use of entheogens across human cultures, and the role of different qualities and intensities of light in modulating melatonin, mood, and alertness at various times of day. Finally, we speak to whether the phase of the moon affects our sleep, and conclude by noting that right now, the moon is full.Get your Goliath shirts right here: store.darkhorsepodcast.orgSupport the sponsors of this show:ReliefBand: Get relief from nausea without drugs.
